Asia-Pacific co-Chief Executive of Citigroup Relocated to Singapore
Published on Nov 25, 2010

Citigroup Inc is relocating Asia-Pacific co-Chief Executive Shirish Apte to Singapore from Hong Kong, according to a memo.

Apte would have direct responsibility for South Asia, including Australia, India and Association of Southeast Asian Nations members, while Hong Kong-based Stephen Bird would continue to oversee North Asia, the memo said.

“With this move, we will have our two Asia-Pacific leaders in the two important focal points for our business – Hong Kong and Singapore,” Citigroup chief executive Vikram Pandit said in the memo.

Citi opened 33 new retail branches in Asia in the third quarter of this year, bringing total retail branches in Asia to more than 700, from less than 100 branches 10 years ago, the memo said.**
