Provide leadership to insure effective long-term partnerships with suppliers that accomplish the business objectives at Micro Systems Engineering, Inc. Lead through a combination of technical engineering skills and business skills improve the supply chain and associated processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Commodity Strategies: Develop commodity and supplier strategies for long-range business direction. Partner with senior management and technical staff to develop and implement strategies.
*Commodity Teams: Lead cross-functional commodity teams, driving strategy for future supplier selection and for management of the performance of current suppliers.
*Project Management: lead, coordinate and execute project plans to completion including documentation, presentation and communication. Participate as a contributing team member on other projects as assigned
*Asset Management: Ensure inventory and quality management strategies are executed which support the Business Plan and Operating Objectives
*Efficiency Management: Ensure proper support of materials to support all schedules
*Cost Management: Initiate and manage total costs which result in price reductions, value and productivity improvements, cost avoidances and cost performance trade-offs
*Manage the supplier base including contract management, performance reviews and development strategies for on-going improvements in business performance and for the consolidation of business awards and a reduced supplier base
*Lead supplier selection and partnering toward those with broad strategic capabilities, best support and competitive advantage
*Provide Engineering and Manufacturing information related to supplier capabilities and long term technical direction
*Informed of supplier direction, business objectives and current/future products
*Support engineering schedules and technical requirements and applications with timely response for material, data and supplier communications
*Understand and communicate to Operations organization supply market trends and potential implications
*Develop agreements that clearly identify the intent and responsibilities of both parties and assure compliance with all appropriate legal requirements
*Informed of/and support Micro Systems Engineering, Inc. business direction, operating objectives and products
*20% or less travel
REQUIREMENTS:
*Bachelors degree in technical field (preferred) or equivalent, with M.S. (business) or MBA preferred.
*Proven cross-functional team leadership and team building skills
*Five to ten years experience as a senior-level procurement agent in the high-tech industry,
*Proven success in business relations, contract negotiations and application of purchasing principles. Proven ability to build strong partnerships with key suppliers,
*Demonstrated success in asset management and cost control
*Demonstrated inventory management skills
*Understanding of electronics and/or commodity technology and its application, including products and process
*SAP or other leading-edge ERP system expert level knowledge in materials and supply chain.
*Demonstrated understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes
*Proven results in value analysis
*APICS certification or equivalent
*Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
*Applications of business systems and strategies to achieve sustained operations and profitability
*Knowledge and anticipation of market trends and economic conditions
*Knowledge and use of financial analysis and accounting principles
*Knowledge and understanding of state, federal and international legal rights and laws relating to procurement**
