The Investment Accounting Consultant is responsible for fulfilling consulting services offered by the Professional Services organization in the Institutional Asset Management segment of SunGard. The Consultant will build in-depth knowledge in Asset Arena Investment Accounting, the industry’s leading investment accounting software, to successfully assist new and existing clients in maximizing their use of the product. The Consultant will use his / her experience in fund accounting to assist top global financial institutions in deploying and configuring the Asset Arena software. Working closely with the assigned team, the Consultant will ensure client engagements are successfully completed with high satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for the transfer of a client’s funds /accounts from one accounting software system to another.
• Hands-on fund conversion support including all aspects of loading balances, transactions and performing general ledger and holdings reconciliations.
• Work closely with a client to review fund conversion results and provide detailed analysis and resolution of discrepancies.
• Assist a client in the implementation of new system features.
• Conduct training & participate in operations analysis and workflow reviews.
• Work with Consulting Manager to provide subject matter expertise for prospective professional service opportunities.
• Extensive domestic travel required, up to 100%
Position Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a related degree or the equivalent of education and experience
• Substantial mutual fund accounting experience, ideally using AAIA product suite
• Previous experience, as described above (i.e. business analysis, system implementations, fund conversions, operations analysis, etc.)
• Strong MS Excel skills and experience using data systems such as Bloomberg.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal / written).
• Comfortable interacting with clients.
• Individual must be hands-on and detailed oriented.
• Ability to travel, up to 100%
DESIRED SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS
• Hedge fund accounting and processing a plus.
• Experience using AAIA product suite
• Visual Basic for Excel, SQL, Access a plus
• Knowledge of European accounting and regulatory standards – both Anglo and Continental
