Job Description
Trade Preparation
Principal equity trading role for the team
Develop skills to execute equity and mutual fund trades independently
Responsible for necessary trade preparation and analysis for client accounts taking into consideration portfolio weightings and specific client goals
Manage and update account restrictions to facilitate trading process and minimize trading errors
Monitor and respond to reorganization and class actions in client portfolios
Client Service
Assist other administrators on the team in responding to client requests, acting as a liaison between the portfolio management team and other departments at the firm
Administrative
Opening new accounts, check and wire requisitions, and utilize various client reports
Daily administrative tasks including answering phones, opening mail, filing, and photocopying
Handle personal organization and projects for Senior Portfolio Managers
Special Projects
Engage resources and relationships from other departments to help troubleshoot and resolve issues
Initiate ideas to streamline processes and workflow
Desired Skills & Experience
Series 7 & 63 required
College degree
Minimum 1-3 years prior experience in securities industry
Highly detail oriented, able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Able to work under time constraints with precision
Knowledgeable in spreadsheets and mathematical concepts
Team-oriented and able to work independently
Keen interest in investments, client service, and business development
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Energetic and hardworking personality
Computer savvy, quick learner of various systems**

The adoption of IFRS for Canadian companies is in full swing. As of January 1, 2010, Canadian companies are required to file financial statements under IFRS. Although Canadian GAAP and IFRS are similar, there are three main differences that have posed a challenge for companies: effectiveness testing, hedge accounting eligibility, and fair value measurement.
